About us

An entertainment magazine that loves Mzansi back.

Sleuthzy.org was started by South African journalists and pop-culture obsessives who were tired of celebrity coverage that felt imported, rushed or unkind. We report on the artists, actors, athletes and creators who define our culture, with the care they and our readers deserve.

What we stand for

Three promises to our readers

Celebrity culture is fun, and it is also built on real people. These principles guide every story.

Facts before buzz

We name our sources, label speculation as speculation and never present unverified allegations as established fact.

Local first

Our coverage starts in South Africa: its cities, languages, studios, stadiums and stages, not a global feed with a flag on top.

Respect for people

Public lives are public, private lives are not. We cover milestones and careers with empathy and without intrusion.

Our story

From a Joburg side project to a national read

What began as a weekly newsletter shared between friends is now a full editorial team covering music, screens, sport, social media and style.

We cover the whole country, from Soweto studios and Sandton red carpets to Cape Town fashion weeks, Durban beachfront festivals and Pretoria stadiums. Our readers speak many languages and follow many scenes, and our coverage tries to reflect all of them.

Our editorial standards are simple: attribute every claim, correct mistakes openly, label advertising clearly and treat the people we write about as people first. Premium membership keeps us independent, and it keeps the reading experience free of clutter.

The team
